Michael Vick Will Play On Sunday For The Eagles

ARTICLE FROM blogs.mcall (Full story click here)

P.S. The Eagles have a interesting problem when Donavan McNabb returns from a injury. They will have three Pro Bowl QB’s on it’s roster. McNabb, recently signed Jeff Garcia and Mike Vick.

We all know McNabb is the man in Philly but if he gets hurt again, the Eagles do not have to worry about going out finding another QB. That’s a problem other teams in the NFL would love to have.

As a sports fan I will be very happy to see Vick back on the field and doing what he loves to do and that is play football. He is one of the most exciting athletes in sports period. A guy who puts fanny’s in the seats.

How will the Eagles use Vick? We just have to wait and see. Teams will not know how to get ready to play the Eagles. We will be on the edge of our seats to see what happens.

The dogfighting situation is in Vick’s past hopefully so let’s enjoy him as a great football player who once again will be playing in the National Football League. G.C.

Could Have Been A Superstar In Seattle

ARTICLE FROM nytimes.com (Full story click here)

Kevin Durant is not here in Seattle to play basketball with the Seattle Sonics. But the Sonics left town and so did Kevin. We will not get to see him grow up to become a NBA star. It is our loss as sports fans.

Durant was just getting used to being in Seattle. His mom lived with him. He was getting out in the community etc and then BAM!!!! Mr. Sell Out Clay Bennett pulled our NBA team of 41 years out of Seattle.

It is very very hard for me to still watch a NBA game knowing the Sonics are not here. It hurts. It hurts that down the road, Portland has a NBA team. And we do not.

Now the NBA training camps will be starting up soon and Durant and O.C. will be getting ready for a NBA season. Meanwhile here in Seattle, Key Arena will be silent and empty. This is truly truly sad. Gordon Curvey

As A Sports Fan What MJ Meant To Me

ARTICLE FROM nba.com (Full story click here)

P.S. As a sports fan, Michael Jordan brought me more enjoyment than any other sports star. I looked forward to watching every game I could when MJ and the Bulls were on TV or came to town to play our departed Seattle Sonics.

MJ did something each and every game that made me and others say “I know he did not do that”. I thought long and hard the other day, who was the best basketball player of all time. Was it MJ? Was it Magic? Was it Kareem? Was it Wilt? Was it Russell? After all the thinking I did, I had to say in my opinion Jordan is the greatest player of all time.

He has meant so much to the game of basketball on and of course off the court with his relationship with NIKE. He has been a tremendous businessman who has made millions of dollars.

In his speech at the Hall of Fame ceremony, MJ let everyone know that he was the best player on the court. Isiah, “Ice Man” and others. MJ said “yo come on and take this jumper in your face dude”.

MJ you could tell STILL thinks he can play in the NBA. And you know what folks, at 46 I think he can. He is that great. I think he can still average 20 a game. You could say this for sure, MJ loves the game of basketball.

I had the chance to meet and interview MJ in the Bulls last visit to Seattle. You see the pic right here. He was nice enough to stop just for me and give the kids some advice.

I want to thank Jordan for all the thrills and happiness he brought me as a basketball junkie. That happiness will never go away. There will never be another MJ. Welcome to the Hall of Fame. Your buddy Sottie Pippin should join you next year. G.C.

Iverson Signs One Year Deal With Memphis

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Full story click here)

P.S. I am very happy that Allen Iverson found a team that wanted him. I feel A.I has not got the respect he should get in his long career.

The media has pointed to him for the blame for teams not winning. Saying he shoots to much. Dribbles to much etc. This is wrong.

AI is AI. He is a scorer. He was that way at Georgetown and in the NBA. That is what he does best. Score. And he has done it very well. To the point of him being on the best little guards in the history of the NBA.

People have labeled him a “thug” etc because of who he hangs out with and the hairstyle he used to have and his tattoos. Yes he has had a few problems with the law. But in the end it has all worked out.

Iverson has a foundation that helps inner city kids BUT the media hardly says ANYTHING about that. But let Allen get in trouble and it is all over the place. This is wrong.

It will be very interesting to see how Memphis handles AI on the team with Mayo and Gay and Randolph. That’s why I love the NBA. Can’t wait until the season starts!!! G.C.

Vick Speaks To Youth In Philidelphia Area School

ARTICLE FROM thesunnews.com (Full story click here)

P.S. While the media talks about the Oregon player hitting the Boise State player and the media talks about the Charger player and his girlfriend etc, I want to talk about a positive subject and that is Mike Vick and what he is doing since he left prison.

So far Vick is really reaching out to inner city kids about the danger of dogfighting. He spoken in front of at least three groups of kids so far in schools and community centers. And is doing a great job.

Of course Vick is very popular with the youth. His number 7 jersey is a top seller. Kids really look up to him as a player before his jail term and after his jail term. He cannot let the kids down again.

I truly believe Michael Vick will do the right thing and be a positive role model and also help the Eagles maybe go the Super Bowl this year.

The Eagles had a very good team without Vick and now with him they have another weapon to fire at teams in the NFL. We will keep you posted on Vick all during the NFL season. Gordon Curvey
