I saw this article on the Los Angeles Times website regarding superstar Kobe Bryant. We all know that Bryant is one of the greatest players of all time. Some say he is the nearest to MJ their is. But their is also another Kobe Bryant.
You can go back to when the Lakers were obtaining NBA title rings when Kobe was teamed with Shaq. Yes they won titles but if you can remember their was problems between Shaq and Kobe. Sometimes Shaq had a problem with Kobe shooting way to much without getting the ball down low in the post.
Now let’s talk about what is going on with the Lakers today. Recently big man Andrew Bynum said that playing with Bryant held up him from being a better player. Bynum is now with the 76ers.
Well I watched a lot of Laker games when Bynum was on the Lakers and saw plenty of times when Andrew worked his way open on the low post with his hands up for the ball and Kobe said the hell with Andrew and tossed up a shot from 20 or a 3 point shot. And I saw the disappointment in the big fellas face. So as a sports fan I was not shocked with Bynum’s comments about Kobe.
Now with the current Lakers, it seems when Kobe goes off for 30, it is not a Laker win. Yes he is shooting very well this season but again I have seen Dwight Howard work his way open on the low post and does not get the rock from from Kobe and I notice the disappointment on Howard’s face. In a game against the Warriors though did not shoot well and tossed up 41 SHOTS!!!
So the question is, does Kobe shoot to much? Does he feel he has to shoot all the time for the Lakers to win? What is going to happen when Nash returns on a regular basis which he has.? And by the way Pau Gasol, another big man does not receive the ball a lot in the low post from Kobe. So I guess we have to see what happens when Steve Nash returns on a regular basis to the Lakers.
