“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
I was listening to sports radio KJR this morning and so called sports jock Dave Mahler give his opinion about Ken Griffey Jr. and should he walk away from the game and retire right now.
First of all who in the hell is Dave Mahler to tell me Jr. should retire. He is a motor mouth so called sports jock who is so hung up on himself, that at times he talks in the third person. I do not need him to tell me Jr. should walk away from baseball.
KJR also has two other motor mouth so called sports jocks in Steve Sandmayer( who is TERRIBLE) and Mitch Levy who have been BLASTING Jr. on a daily basis. This is unfair.
Yes Grif is not hitting. But guess what? The whole Seattle Mariner team is not hitting!! So why is the media in Seattle only discussing Jr? For instance our new player at second Chone Figgens is not hitting along with many others.
How bout our Mariner manager who seems to me is not standing up for his players. I have seen terrible calls at home plate by the umpire and our manager is standing at the foot of the dugout like the Statue Of Liberty. No emotion what so ever. Has he EVER been thrown out of a game standing up for his players? NO. I think he has never been thown out standing up for his team. Why isn’t Dave Mahler or any other sports media in Seattle talking about that?
The talk is only about Jr and should he retire or was Jr. sleep in the dugout or Seattle Times writer Steve Kelly writing two articles saying the same thing. And that is Jr. should retire etc. It is all Jr. all the time. This is very very unfair.
In ending, why doesn’t Dave Mahler retire or walk away to Salt Lake City or a sport radio station in Montana!!!! And take Steve Kelly and Larry LaRue with him.
In my opinion, Jr. should leave on his own terms. Their would not be a Seattle Mariner team to discuss if it was not for Jr. I hope he does not retire now and at least stay the rest of the season and then retire so we can have a great Ken Griffey Day at Safeco Field.
The sports media in Seattle needs to chill out on Jr. And focus in on the rest of team and the manager who are doing NOTHING!!! Leave Jr. alone!!!!!
