It was great to see that former Seattle Mariner Ken Griffey Jr. has received a Commissioner’s Historic Achievement Award.
Jr. is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. And we here in Seattle had a chance to see him play most his career. How lucky we were.
Grif also did a lot for the kids in the inner city of Seattle. Every year he took a group of kids from Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club to Disneyland. Plus he bought the club a new van.
He kept Seattle on the baseball map. He did a lot of commercials with his Mariner jersey on etc. Might of fact, hardly any other baseball player was doing commercials. It was just Grif Jr.
So congratulations to Griffey Jr. and his awards. In a few years we will see him walking right into the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Gordon Curvey

Readers as I have said before here on “Sports Inner City Online” I am a basketball junky. I love the game and I was good at the game too. But I get very upset when I see NBA players like Deron Williams speaking up about the NBA lockout.
He has the nerve to be over in far away Turkey playing for a Turkish team and saying he blames the owners for the lockout. Shut up D-Will and get to the table!

Williams should have his ass over here in Los Angeles or NY at the damn table with his NBA brotha Derek Fisher and other NBA players who are in the meetings trying to end this lockout.
I am mad that Kobe and Lebron and D-Wade and Amerie and Melo and KG others superstars have came to the meetings (or are not at the meetings) in September when Billy Hunter and David Stern and Fisher had already had many meetings. Coming to the table LATE! Real late.
These NBA players were not doing nothing during the off-season. Most were traveling, playing golf or just hanging with the family at home. They should be at the table RIGHT NOW WITH FISHER AND HUNTER AND STERN!!
Deron Williams was WRONG in my opinion in speaking out about the lockout in far away Turkey! Yo D-Will bring your ass home and join forces with your NBA brothas and get down to REAL business to end this lockout NOW! Go

I love sports. I will watch any type of sports. Well not any type but I was watching the start of the Indy Car race in Vegas. It was the final race of the IZOD season and it ended in big time tragedy.
It was also Danica Patrick final Indy Car. She is moving to NASCAR racing next year (Will she ever win a race? Maybe one day) The race started and Patrick went on the radio to her crew and said things are just not right on the course. She was nervous about something.
Then in lap 12 ALL HELL BROKE OUT!! A tremendous crash took place. Cars was everywhere. Fire was everywhere. Flying in the air. Parts of Indy cars were flying in the air.
After about two hours the word came out the two time Indy 500 winner and this years winner Dan Wheldon was killed at the age of 33. That was not the way to die readers.
Racing is a very dangerous sport. You have to be a special kind of dude to race at 150 to 200 mph. When you race you are taking your life in danger. Most of these cats started racing when they were little kids. It is a passion to them. It is in their blood.
Anyway our prayers go out to the family of Dan Wheldon. May he rest in peace. Gordon Curvey

As a NBA fan and huge basketball fan I AM PISSED!! David Stern has cancelled the first two weeks of the NBA season because of the lockout between the owners and players.
One of the reasons I am pissed is this. WHY did it take Kobe and Melo and LeBron and Wade and Amerie and others so long to come to the meetings? They were playing golf and holding charity games etc instead of being at the table with Stern and others.
A lot of business people will suffer because of the loss of revenue with no NBA games being played. It is a outrage in my opinion. And by the way I am on the players side.
The owners are raking in millions millions of cash for decades. The players can only play for so long so they need to get as much money as they can. One thing for sure is the players need to save their earned money and invest instead of blowing their cash on material things like big cars and huge homes etc.
It seems LeBron James is investing his money. He wants to be like Magic and Bob Johnson. A billionaire. And I think he will do just that.
Anyway we here at “Sports Inner City Online” will keep you informed on the TERRIBLE NBA lockout. I am a basketball junky. Let’s settle this damn lockout!! Gordon Curvey

Dwayne Wade and LaBron James moved from the NBA labor talks at least for a night to hold a sold out charity game at Florida International.
It was a great game that went to overtime. I watched the game online and in the fourth quarter the game was played like a regular season game. The players played real serious.
A lot of top players played in the game. Some of the players were along with James and Wade were Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Seattle’s own Jamal Crawford, Kevin Durant, Amerie Stoudemire, John Wall, and many more.
The main charity the game was for benefited a organization started by NBA legend Isaiah Thomas for his late mom. By the Florida International basketball team is coached by Thomas.
Meanwhile in the NBA labor talks, they are going nowhere. The NBA exhibition season was canceled and it looks like the first two weeks of the NBA season may not be played too.
As a basketball junky and a NBA fan I am real upset at what is going on. Both sides refuse to give in. What may happen is no NBA his year and that will be devestting for all NBA fans. Let’s hope the two sides will come together for the NBA and for all NBA fans all over the world. Gordon Curvey
