Seattle Mariners Greg Halman Stabbed To Death

ARTICLE FROM thegrio.com (Full story click here)

Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Holman was stabbed to death in Rotterdam, Netherlands early Monday and police arrested his brother as a suspect.

Police were called to a home in the city in the early morning hours and found Holman bleeding from a stab wound. Officers and paramedics were unable to save him. He was only 24 years old.

Holman hit .230 in 35 games here in Seattle with the Mariners and played all three outfield positions in 2011. He was sent down to the minors late in the season.

Greg was born in a city called Haarlem and played in the Dutch Pro League. This is a terrible terrible story of a young baseball player with a lot of talent.

During my visits to Safeco Field last season I did not get a chance to meet him and interview him for “Sports Inner City Online” Now I wish I had. Our prayers go out to his family and it is a terrible loss for the Seattle Mariner organization.   Gordon Curvey

Marquez Was ROBBED! Manny Pacquiao Handed A Win In Vegas

“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey

Readers I am a tremendous boxing fan and I have always been just that. But again I think boxing was given ANOTHER “black eye” when welterweight champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was given a win against Juan Manuel Marquz in Las Vegas.

If you watched the fight you clearly saw that Jaun won the fight. The fans knew it, the announcers knew it and HELL if you looked at Pacman’s face he knew Marquez won he damn fight!

But the judges gave the fight to Pacquiao. Were the judges Stevie Wonder, the late Ray Charles and Jose Feliciano? They had to be blind. What was they watching. I truly feel sorry for Marquez. At the age of 38 he fought his ass off only to be ripped off of a win again against Manny.

Yes it was a tight fight and a few rounds could have went one way or another. But clearly Marquez won the fight that millions watched on Pay-Per-View.

In my strong opinion I think this was a SET UP by promoter Bob Arum so he can line his pockets with the fight every boxing fan wants to see. A fight between Manny and the undefeated Floyd “Money” Mayweather sometime next year.

It would be the biggest pay-per-view take in boxing history. Everyone wants to see this fight. So did Bob Arum tell the judges to give Manny the win?

I think so. And if this is the case which of course can never be proven, it is truly sad. And again I feel terrible for Marquez. He was robbed. He fought his ass off at the age of 38 and was robbed of the title. TERRIBLE!!!!!!   Gordon Curvey

Steve Williams Makes Racist Comment About Tiger Woods

ARTICLE FROM newsone.com (Full story click here)

I saw this story and really got upset at Steve Williams. Why? Here is why. How ON EARTH can Steve Williams say ANYTHING negative on Tiger Woods. Anything!

In the story above Williams makes a racist comment regarding Woods at a event overseas. Maybe Williams had a few to many drinks at the bar. It was unreal for Steve to say what he said in front of those folks.

Yes Tiger did fire Williams. And yes Williams had a problem with it. But last time I checked Tiger was his boss and had the right to fire Williams if he wanted too.

And folks remember this. TIGER WOODS MADE STEVE WILLIAMS A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE!! Why would Williams bash Tiger ANYWHERE OR ANY PLACE!!! Williams should NEVER say anything negative about Tiger. Because he stayed with Woods as a caddie for a long time. Longer than most caddies stay with a player. Williams should get on his knees and thank god for Tiger every night.

So Williams should always thank Tiger. ALWAYS!! And not bash him.  Gordon Curvey

Big Shaq Puts Kobe On Blast in New Book!! Out Nov 15th

ARTICLE FROM deadspin.com (Click here for full article)

It was just a matter of time that the Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant situation would be brought back up now that Shaq is retired from the game. Someone would bring it up or Shaq would.

So now a new book is coming out called “Shaq Uncut: My Story” written by Shaq and Hall Of Fame writer Jackie MacMullan and Shaq puts Kobe on full blast in the book.

I have been watching ESPN and listening to Stephen A. Smith on 710 ESPN in L.A. and little parts of the book was talked about. One part was Shaq and ex Laker Brian Shaw had problems with Kobe not hanging with the fellas more and not coming to parties when invited etc.

Also the situation of Kobe’s problems in Colorado will be talked about in the book and who supported who and so on. For sports fans this should be a good book to read. Mainly because Jackie MacMullan is a excellent writer. That has followed the NBA for twenty five years. And like I said, she is a Hall Of Famer for her writing on the sport of basketball.

Bottom line for me is Shaq and Kobe were maybe the best one and two tandem in the ever in th NBA, but their personality was as diffent as night and day. Kobe was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. A child of a NBA player (Joe “Butterbean” Bryant-current head coach o the WNBA’s L.A. Sparks). And Shaq a child of two hard working parents. His dad a military father.

But some how they put ther personalities aside to win three NBA titles. Anyway the book comes out on Nov 15th. Again it is called “Shaq Uncut: My Story” it should be a very good book.   Gordon Curvey

Where In The Hell Is Kobe, KG, Dirk, Melo And Others!!

ARTICLE FROM nba.com (Full story click here)

David Stern has canceled all NBA through November because of the lockout going on between the NBA Players Union and the owners.

This lockout is hurting me as a NBA fan and a basketball fan as well as bars and restaurants around NBA arenas all over the country,

What I am really bothered about is superstar players like Kobe and KG and LeBron and Dirk and Melo and Pierce and Ray Allen not being in the meeting. They are at home with the family or playing golf etc. They should be IN THE DAMN MEETINGS JOING DEREK FISHER TO HELP HAMMER OUT A DEAL!!!! THIS IS REAL TALK FOLKS!!!

The way it is going we will not have NBA basketball to enjoy this season. Because it seems the owners will not back down and the Players Union led by Billy Hunter will not back down. In the end it hurts all the fans of the NBA. This is very very sad.    Gordon Curvey
