“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Ex NFL QB Hugh Millen said last Friday that rookie Seattle Seahawk QB is a “teacher’s pet”. It was a VERY low blow by a Matt Flynn supporter like his buddy KJR sports radio host Dave Mahler.
Well guess what readers? The “teacher’s pet” out played Matt Flynn in pre-season. It is that simple. Russell Wilson is a very intelligent young fella who can throw, run and is agile and mobile and dynamic and can put fans in the seats. His answers in post game interviews are great.
Truth be told I just could not understand why fans and Seattle talk hosts like Mahler etc said Flynn should start as soon as he signed his contract with the Seahawks. Before he walked on the field for training camp. Flynn was the man.
Talk show hosts here in town said Wilson should sit and watch Matt Flynn for a year and other crazy stuff. And that Wilson is the “safe” choice to start. And also talked about his experience. Experience? Oh…..his grand total of two starts in the NFL. Give me a break. I never fell for that readers. Never. I knew if given a chance Wilson could do the job.
I followed him in college. He was one of the few college players I wanted to watch every week on TV. Russell Wilson is a special player and will prove it to Seahawk fans.
Heard Hall Of Fame member and one of the greatest QB’s in NFL history, Terry Bradshaw say on TV today that Wilson should start and repeated what I and others already know. And that is Russell has a arm, can run and is very intelligent and is a leader.
This is from Bradshaw a all time great QB! All you have to do is watch Wilson play and you should think like Bradshaw and others think and that is Wilson can be a great, not good but a great player in the NFL. He can make plays that Flynn could only dream of. This is just a fact. Flynn is a good QB. Just not as good as Russell Wilson.
Sorry to see T.O. cut from the Seahawks. I am worried about T.O. because he seems to be a fella who has not made plans for himself after football. I have watched his reality shows and saw him crying etc. I hope we do not have another Jr. Seau on our hands. Please pray for Terrell Owens. And good luck to T-Jack with the Bills. He handed every thing with class. He is a good dude.
Anyway head coach Pete Carroll made the right move and named Russell Wilson the starter for game #1 for the Seahawks and I am excited big time as a sports fan and Seahawk fan to see Wilson when the season finally starts.

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Russell Wilson leads the Seahawks to pre-season win of K.C. Wilson looked GREAT and should be named the starter of the Hawks in my opinion and many others!! Former NFL QB said that Russell Wilson was a “teacher’s pet” Well the “teacher’s pet” played his ass off against K.C!!
Seattle Seahawk head coach Pete Carroll did the correct thing and named QB Russell Wilson to as the starter in the pre-season game against K.C. He will replace Matt Flynn who started the first two pre-season games.
Carroll’s move got former NFL and UW QB Hugh Millen (also went to the same high school I went to here in Seattle, Roosevelt High) and his buddy sports radio host Dave Mahler got VERY VERY upset because their man Flynn will not be starting. Millen was really upset! And I mean upset. The question is why?
Folks I am sorry to say that race is in the picture. Flynn is white and Wilson is African American.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/20/skip-bayless-kirk-cousins-rg3-white-redskins-fans_n_1813047.html is a article about Skip Bayless going off about how fans in D.C. are taking sides regarding the QB’s with the Redskins.
It is crazy and not only that WRONG that guys like Millen and Mahler and fans are upset that Russell Wilson is starting a pre-season game instead of Flynn.
Wilson has played better than Flynn. Period. Is Millen and Mahler and others blind like Stevie Wonder or the late Ray Charles? Have they watched the first two pre-season games?
Readers Flynn was signed by the Seahawks then all of a sudden he is Joe Namath or Johnny Unitas or Payton Manning and is named the starter by sports radio hosts and fans before he walked on the field for training camp! Give me a break.
KJR host Mitch Levy says the more he listens to Coach Carroll the more he gets “confused” Why Mitch? I am not confused at all. Wilson has played better than Flynn in pre-season. What is it to be confused about? Some say Russell should have started the second pre-season game. Well guess what? He did not. Wilson is starting the third game. Guys like Millen and Mahler and fans continue to talk about “taking reps from Wilson” crap. Say what?
Cats like Hugh Millen and Dave Mahler and other fans should be EXCITED to see what Russell can do with the first team against a good K.C. defense. Instead Millen blows up on KJR. Again this shows me race has came into the picture folks.
So let’s see what Russell will do. He is a exciting, intelligent, mobile and agile player who needs to be seen with the first team by Coach Carroll and Seahawk fans.

ARTICLE FROM cleveland.com (Full story click here)
We here at “Sports Inner City Online” we try to bring you information that sports radio will not discuss at all. More positive information on sports stars. To many times of course we here about negative stuff on NFL and NBA and MLB players.
A lot of them are African Americans or people of color when we hear about players in trouble. We want to bring as many positive stories as we can to you the readers. So you the readers will NOT read about players and ex players being called names like “thugs” and other negative names like we hear on sports radio stations like KJR and 710 ESPN here in Seattle and on Fox Sports Radio with hosts like JT The Brick and other sports jocks.
Lebron James was honored in his home town of Akron, Ohio at a minor league game for his work in the inner city for young youth with his “Wheels For Education” Foundation. It was a overflow crowd at the game to honor “King James”.
You may dislike James for the way he left Cleveland a few years ago but one thing for sure LeBron has always given back to the inner city. He has not forgot where he came from. He has given back BIG time. He has build a new Boys and Girls Club for the kids in Akron and other positive things. This is great on his part.
When I was out at Seattle Seahawk training camp recently one of the questions I asked all the players is do they have a foundation for the kids or what are doing to give back to the community. I ask this because I feel players should not forget where they come from after they make their millions.
The only negative thing I will say in this story is a lot of Seattle natives who play in the NBA have forgot where they come from. They donate money to organizations that are “majority” owned but organizations like “Music Inner City Entertainment” have to BEG for help.
It has been a great year for James. Another MVP award, NBA title, Olympic gold medal and more. You matter what you think about LeBron James on how he left Cleveland, you never hear about him in trouble. He is never in the news for hitting his wive or hanging in the clubs at 2am. James is a role model for little kids to look up to. That is for sure.

Seahawk head coach Pete Carroll will name his starting QB for Friday’s pre-season game on Tuesday and we are waiting to see if Russell Wilson will start instead of Matt Flynn. Details soon.
