Should The Seattle Seahawks Start Matt Flynn Over Wilson?

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

BREAKING NEWS: Head Coach Pete Carroll said on 710 ESPN/Seattle that QB Matt Flynn is not healthy and is still hurt. Then he says later that Flynn is OK.

Brian Abker on Sportsradio KJR/Seattle found a soundbite from a few week ago in which Carroll said Flynn is fine. So what is going on? Is Matt Flynn hurt or not hurt? I am confused.

Today was a great day to watch sports on TV because there was great NFL games that went down to the wire and also the Ryder’s Cup in which Europe came from behind to beat the host United States.

But as a sports fan we here in Seattle are asking this question. Should Matt Flynn become the starting QB of the Seahawks after another marginal performance by rookie Russell Wilson after the Hawks got beat by a team they should have beat, the St. Louis Rams 19-13. They are better than the Rams readers.

I have been a supporter of Wilson because he beat Flynn out in training camp. I listened to sports jocks like Dave Mahler and Hugh Millan on radio say Flynn should be the starter. I heard fans say Flynn should start.

Even heard Hugh Millan call Wilson “a teacher’s pet” which I wrote about here in S.I.C Online. I still stood behind Wilson as the starter. But after watching the Seahawks offense the last few games I am asking myself a question and that is should Matt Flynn become the starter of the Seahawks? I am real confused right now.

It is true the Hawks passing offense is last in the NFL and after Wilson’s performance against the Rams in which he threw for only 160 yards, is the most he has thrown for so far this year, I am wondering if he will improve in a big way soon.

The question is this. Is Matt Flynn the answer? I keep hearing guys like Mahler and Hugh say OVER AND OVER that Flynn threw for over 400 yards in a game last year. By the way that was done against second and third string Lion players. Well does that mean Flynn can come in and do much better than Wilson and pass for 250, 300 or even 400 yards and give us Seahawk fans the passing game that is badly missing to add to the powerful running game of the “Beast Mode” Lynch?

But where is Braylon Edwards readers? Where is Sidney Rice? Why did Carroll and his coaching staff run a freakin off side kick? I did not understand that play AT ALL.  The Seahawks tried trick plays against the Rams. Why? Why? Why?

Well Coach Carroll has to make the decision. Will he continue to allow Wilson to learn on the job or will he do what many Seahawk fans want and start Matt Flynn? Myself as a fan, I just want us to win. If Wilson is starting cool. If Flynn is starting cool. I just want to see a improvement in the passing game and very soon. I just want us to win games against teams we should beat…..like the St. Louis Rams.

NFL Right Now? Big Men Playing With “Little” Refs!!

ARTICLE FROM nfl.com (Click here for full article)

I am born and still here in my hometown Seattle but I am going to tell the truth readers.  And the truth is the NFL needs to get the REAL refs back and back NOW!!

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers on the worse call I have EVER seen watching any sport on TV. QB Russell Wilson threw a hail mary pass on the last play of the game to try to win the game for Seattle and when the ball came down all hell broke out and in the end it looks like the Seahawks Golden Tate pushed off to try to catch the ball and it looked like the Packer M.D. Jennings got to the ball first. If you watched the replay it clearly shows Jennings had the ball first and Tate pushed off a Packer player.

One sub ref said it was a TD for the Hawks and the other sub ref said it was not a TD. In the end it was ruled a TD for the Hawks and we win the game. But in my strong opinion we did not win this game. I think Tate pushed off and M.D. Jennings got to the ball first.

Readers the bottom line is after a weekend of blown calls and terrible calls by the sub refs, the icing on the cake was tonight here in Seattle. The NFL and real refs need to get to the table and bring this mess to a end. THE REAL REFS NEED TO BE BACK THIS WEEKEND. It has got out of hand. BIG TIME!! If something does not happen soon, someone is going to get hurt in a brawl on the field because of a bad call.

Players and head coaches are being fined for yelling at refs and now a head coach even grabbed a ref because he was pissed about terrible calls. I am saying again, BRING THE REAL REFS BACK!!! In a game played by big men big refs are needed not “little refs”.

I went online to listen to how Green Bay Packers feel on WTMJ in Milwaukee. And man….they were mad as hell and do you blame the Packer fans? They were planning a protest in Green Bay about the terrible call.

The players, the fans, the coaches, everybody is getting fed up with the terrible calls in the NFL by these sub refs. As a sports fans it is getting to the point it is hard to watch a NFL game with these sub refs. Something has to be done NOW!!

Seattle City Council Approves New Arena

ARTICLE FROM seattletimes.com (Full story click here)

The Seattle City Council voted to approve a new arena for a possible return of the NBA to Seattle. It was a 6-2 vote. Now it has to go to the full King County Council for another vote. As a NBA fan and a sports fan today is another happy day.

The main guy pushing to have the Seattle Sonics back here in Seattle, Chris Hansen also says today is a great day but their is more work to do. But everything is falling right into place for the return of the NBA to Seattle as well as a new NHL team for hockey fans for which I am not going to lie, I am not. I  am a huge NBA fan. Real talk.

Our Sonics left town in 2008 when the sellout Mr. Starbucks Howard Schultz sold the team to Clay Bennett who said he would keep the team here in Seattle but the city needs to remodel Key Arena where the team played for decades. But he lied and moved the team to Oklahoma City before a deal could be made for a new arena or the remodeling of the Key.

The Sonics were in Seattle for 41 years and won a NBA title in 1979 led by Hall Of Famer Lenny Wilkens, “Downtown” Freddy Brown, Jack Sikma, Hall Of Famer “D.J.” the late Dennis Johnson, “The Wizard” Gus Williams, “J.J.” John Johnson and Lonnie Shelton. With “The Voice” Bob Blackburn calling the games.

With the great work and money of Chris Hansen along with the also great work of Brian Robinson and Adam Brown and Jason Reid and others, god willing the NBA and pro basketball, the sport I love to death will return to our city. We will keep you informed of all the latest news of the return of the NBA and the new arena  right here on S.I.C.    Gordon Curvey

Dwight Is WRONG!! He Was Acting Like LeBron!!

ARTICLE FROM huffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)

Found this article about new L.A. Laker center Dwight Howard and I could not believe what I saw in the article above in which Howard said he did not want to be like LeBron James and be hated in Orlando. SAY WHAT!!!!! GET REAL BRO!!!

Dwight Howard was acting like LeBron BIG TIME!! This cat said he did not want to play in Orlando anymore and asked to be traded just like James took his talents to Miami. Howard also acted like Carmelo Anthony who wanted out of Denver and is now playing for New York so what was Howard thinking when he said these things in the interview.

Guys like Howard and James and Anthony and even Chris Paul who wanted out of New Orleans makes me think negative about pro players. It really does. And you as a sports fan should feel the same.

These players have been touched by god to make millions and millions of dollars to play a kids game. They should thank the man above for allowing them to play in the NBA and don’t complain. Millions of kids have dreams of playing pro basketball like Howard and Paul and Anthony and James. For these guys to demand where they want to play makes me upset and bothered by these spoiled brats.

I wonder how the fans of the Orlando Magic really feel about Howard besides calling into sports talk radio bashing Howard? When Dwight comes back to Orlando to play for the first time with his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers, it will be very interesting how the fans treat him. If I was a Orlando fan I would not be happy.     Gordon Curvey
