NBA Board Votes 22-8 To Keep Kings In Sacramento

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I am a NBA junky. I love the game of basketball. When the NBA season ends I get depressed as a sports fan. I was very supportive of our Seattle Sonics for years and years. Then I started my TV show “Music Inner City TV” which covers entertainment and sports and I started going to Key Arena here in Seattle to obtain interviews with NBA players.

I interviewed a lot of players over the years like Micheal Jordan, Shaq, Charles Barkley, Phil Jackson, Isiah Thomas, Chris Webber, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, and many many more NBA players and coaches. It was a lot of fun not work when I went to interview players at the morning shoot arounds at Key Arena here in Seattle. Well it looks like that will never happen again in my lifetime after the NBA Board of Governors voted 22-8 to keep the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento.

As a NBA fan I am crushed. I am hurt. I am depressed. It looks like I will never again get a chance to conduct interviews with NBA players here in Seattle except for our Seattle natives who are here during the summer like Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Spencer Hawes, Rodney Stuckey, Terrence Williams, Tony Wroten Jr. and many others. This is very very sad and I am feeling horrible and very sad today. As a sports fan I am as sad today as when the Sonics left in 2008.

I think about Gary Payton going into the Basketball Hall Of Fame in a few months as a Sonic, but our Sonics are in OKC and today a vote was taken to keep the NBA out of Seattle for a long long time in my opinion. When will we be able to have a event to have Payton and Shawn Kemp’s jersey go up in a arena? Will and where will that happen? Today I think about how fun it was when I listened to Sonic broadcaster Kevin Calabro and Marques Johnson go off with excitement after a pass from “The Glove” to “The Reignman” Shawn Kemp for a vicious slam dunk with the crowd at the Key cheering.

I think about how excited I was when the Sonics made the NBA Finals against Pippin and MJ and Rodman and the Bulls. I think about the 79′ title team led by now Seattle area resident Hall Of Fame member Lenny Wilkens as the head coach. And on the court led by the late DJ, The Wizard, Lonnie Shelton, Jack Sikma, JJ and “Downtown” Freddy Brown.

So readers I just wonder what is the next move by Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer? Because after today and listening to the clown David Stern and the press conference to announce that the Kings are staying in Sacramento, it seems the NBA will not be in Seattle in my lifetime. For this I am very sad as a NBA fan. I will have to continue to watch the excitement of OKC fans knowing that was our Sonics.

We are the 12th or 13th largest radio/tv market in the U.S. and we don’t have a NBA team but Sacramento does. This ain’t right. This is very wrong. I want to thank Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer and Wally Walker for trying to put smiles and excitement on our faces because we had the return of our Sonics after having them in our city for four decades. I also want to thank my friends Jason Reid and Adam Brown and also Brian Robinson, Shawn Kemp and others for their hard work over the last few years. I also want to thank sportsradio KJR for opening up their airwaves for hours and hours on the topic of the Sonics and the return of the NBA.

Does Hansen and Ballmer have other plans for the future when it comes to the Sonics in Seattle? We will let you know right here on “Sports Inner City Online”. Coming up a story on David Stern. Who I have some problems with. Stay tuned!

KD Shows His Love For Seattle Wearing Sonic Hat At Shoot Around

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

When news breaks on the Kings/Sonics situation as the NBA owners vote on a possible move in Dallas.

“KD” Kevin Durant was drafted by the Seattle Sonics in 2008 when he left early from Texas. He quickly became a fan favorite here in Seattle. He visited schools and did a lot in the community and bought a big house which by the way he just sold a few months ago.

The team which KD played for here in town was not great but he was. Soon as we all know KD and the Sonics took off for OKC and became the OKC Thunder and we were left without a NBA for the first time in 41 years. As a sports fan and a big time NBA fan I was hurtand still am hurt and my favorite sport was gone and no more going to Key Arena to conduct short interviews with players. Man it really hurt readers. And of course still does.

Now I follow all the many players from the Seattle area in the NBA like my friend Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Nate Robinson, Spencer Hawes, Rodney Stuckey and others. AND I follow KD because he is such a good dude. A role model for kids of all races to look up to. You don’t hear about KD in trouble. He is making commercials and even a movie. He has became a NBA superstar and four three time scoring champ. And he is still a young man.

Now as we fight for the return of the NBA for Seattle led by Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer, KD is showing his support in his way by wearing a old school Sonics hat at a recent shoot around for the Thunder. This follows Durant wearing a Seattle Mariners hat at the recent Final Four.

So readers it shows KD has not forgot the fans here in Seattle. Shout out to KD for his support. I don’t like his owner Clay Bennett but I support KD and hope he does well every game and by the way. I wonder how his boss felt when KD wore the Sonics hat at shoot around?  Ummmmmmmm.

I Think Derrick Rose Needs To Suit Up & Play!

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Readers I love the NBA. I love the NBA playoffs. It is my time of the year. I am watching Seattle natives Nate Robinson and Tony Wroten Jr. do their thing in the playoffs for the Bulls and Girz and former Washington State Coug Klay Thompson is ballin for the Golden State Warriors. It is a lot of fun watching these players.

But one thing I hate is seeing former MVP Derrick Rose sitting on the freakin bench with $3,000 suits and screaming for his teammates with the Bulls instead of having his butt on the court after sitting out for a year with his injury. The Bulls doctors have gave him the go ahead to play months ago. But Rose continues to sit and saying he is not ready to play yet. This does not make sense readers. What is Derrick waiting for?

The Bulls can use his services right now. But Rose continues to say he is not ready to play. Derrick is taking a beating on sports radio in Chicago. Rose says he not paying attention to the radio or TV or online reports or the newspaper. That is not true readers. I know and you know Derrick reads this stuff. But he just does not care.

But the bottom line is Derrick Rose is just afraid mentally. Keep in mind Rose has been 5 on 5 in practice for the last month or so. Sweating up a storm. He works out before each Bulls playoff games. Again, sweating his ass off. But then he goes and puts on his expensive suit and he is back on the bench. It is time for Rose to play if he has been cleared to play months ago.

Derrick Rose is still getting PAID BIG MONEY folks. It is time for him to earn his money and get on the court and play point guard for the Chicago Bulls.  Man….if this was Kobe Bryant he would have been on the court. Let can bet your last money on that!! But this is Derrick Rose. Kobe Bryant. Well let’s see when Derrick Rose will make a return. When he does it will be a great day for the Chicago Bulls and their fans.

Danica Patrick Needs To Win A Race And Quiet Down

ARTICLE FROM yahoosports.com (Full story click here here)

I have followed the career of Danica Patrick since she started racing in the Indy Car series. I want to see how well sell does every race and of course we saw her a lot on TV pushing for Go Daddy products for years. Not so much lately. Maybe it is because she has not won a race? Ummmmmm?

Because it is a fact Patrick has really not won a race in the U.S. I think she won a race overseas and that’s it. Sorry to say instead of winning a race or finishing well in races Danica is always getting into a beef with her fellow male drivers. First on the Indy Car series and now on the Nationwide and Nascar circuit. She has a short fuse readers and other drivers know it so maybe they plan on testing her every race knowing she made explode with her mouth a little later in a press conference.

It seems some drivers are getting tired of Patrick’s mouth. And as a sports fan I am too. I want to see Danica win a race just like I like to see Tiger win and Venus and Serena win, “Money” Mayweather win, the Seahawks win and more.

Patrick has the skills to win a race in the future. She is getting better all the time in the Nationwide/NASCAR Series. She is not doing to bad. But like I said, other drivers are getting tired of Danica Patrick and her motor mouth blaming everyone under the sun for her getting into accidents etc. Other drivers are saying to Danica “Shut Up and race” I agree!    Gordon Curvey
