Heat Vs. Spurs Is What The NBA Wanted

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

As a sports fan I was praying for the Indiana Pacers to get beat in game #7 against the Miami Heat. You know that real basketball fans did not want to see two BORING teams in the NBA Finals. I love basketball but I did not want to see those two teams in the Finals.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that out going David Stern did not want that match up too. Most fans are happy that the matchup is the Heat and Spurs in the Finals. Two big threes. One on the Heat and one on the Spurs. 37 year old Tim Duncan is playing like he is 27. Hell he made the All NBA first team this year at at 37! That’s unreal and it shows how great Duncan is. He is one of the greatest players of all time. A first team Hall of Famer for sure!

And Tony Parker is ballin. He is someone the Heat has to control if they plan on winning. Lebron James may have to watch Parker at times during the series. That will be interesting. 6-8 James watching 6-1 Parker. But guess what? If any 6-8 player can watch a “little guy” like Parker it is James. James is a freak of nature. The guy is 6-8 and around 260 and is ultra quick. Quick as a cat.  The cat is unreal. We all know that sports fans.

I love the game of basketball and the NBA. I hate it when “Inside The NBA” has it’s last program of the year with EJ, Kenny, Shaq and Charles. It is the best studio sports show by far on TV. It is funny and great and Emmy winning. Wish they were on the air to discuss the Finals. It would be interesting to hear the fellas comments on Chris Bosh and his lack of a game in the playoffs and D-Wade’s off and on play.

What will Ginobili do in the playoffs because his game has been on and off too. Who will watch James on the Spurs most of the time. What will Ray Allen do? One thing for sure I don’t like the 2-3-2 format. But anyway let’s get started with the Finals. It should be a great series.

Spurs win game #1 92-88. Watch “Sports Inner City TV” below for comments on the game.

Sports Inner City Online Bio: Kevin Durant

FULL BIO ON KEVIN DURANT (Click here)

For those of you who do not know, OKC star forward Kevin Durant was drafted out of Texas by our former NBA team the Seattle Sonics. We thought we would watch this young skinny dude grow up and become a star that he is today. But that did not happen.

It did not happen because of the clown Howard Schultz sold the team to a guy named Clay Bennett who moved the team to Oklahoma City, And Durant has grown into a superstar with multiple scoring titles and more to come. He is still a very young player. He is going to get better and better. He might even fill out body wise. He is a flat out scoring machine and can cash from 35 feet out. He has no limit as a scorer.

And the thing I like is Durant is turning into a man who gives back and does a lot in the community. Durant has pledged $1 million to help victims in the terrible tornados in the state of Oklahoma. I think this is great on the part of Kevin. And he has made movies, is doing commercials and more. He is a first class role model for kids of all races to look up too.

You do not hear about Kevin hangin out at a club at 3am or driving his Jag and getting a speeding ticket or getting a drinking while driving ticket. He is a real gentleman and will be a star for a long long time and like I said he will be getting better and better as a player and what he did for the people of Oklahoma is just great on his part.

Big shout out to KD. To bad we could not watch this young fella turn into a man here in Seattle.   Gordon Curvey

Garcia Says He Is Sorry About “Fried Chicken” Remark

ARTICLE FROM usatoday.com (Full story click here)

It seems from time to time the world’s #1 golfer has reality hit him in the face. And that is he is the only African American on the PGA Tour and that at times certain fellas like Fuzzy Zoeller and now the motor mouth Serio Gargio makes stupid and yes racist remarks about Tiger.

A few years ago Fuzzy made a comment about a dinner and invite Tiger and serve fried chicken. His career went down the tubes after that remark. Of course Fuzzy said he was sorry but to most the damage was done. But now here comes Sergio Garcia.

It is well known that Tiger and Garcia do not get along at all.  A few weeks ago Garcia said Tiger pulled out a club out his bag right when he was getting ready to hit his ball a few yards away. Tiger said the a course manager said Garcia has hit his ball. Garcia went in on Tiger after the round. Garcia is a motor mouth clown who needs to shut up and win some majors like Tiger has over the years.

Anyway Garcia has now also made a fried chicken remake regarding Tiger!! SAY WHAT?? What is going on with fried chicken and Tiger Woods with certain guys who play the game of golf? For those of you who don’t know, a lot of folks think when a white or non African American like Garcia makes a comment about fried chicken, it is racist.

A lot of people think African Americans love a lot of watermelon and fried chicken. What Fuzzy said years ago regarding Tiger and fried chicken and what Garcia has said regarding Tiger and fried chicken is flat out racist! For Garcia to say he did not mean his comment to be racist is a empty headed reaction. Garcia held a press conference to say he is sorry for his comment. He made this comment about the world’s #1 golfer overseas at a event.  He said he is truly sorry. WHAT HE SAID WAS RACIST READERS.

Here is the thing. What now for Garcia when he comes to play here America? He made his racist comment at a event overseas. What reaction will Garcia get for the rest of his career because readers Fuzzy Zoeller’s career when down hill quickly. Gordon Curvey Comments? gcurvey@yahoo.com or www.facebook.com/gordon.curvey  or www.twitter.com/gcurvey

Blame The Game #1 Loss Of The Pacers On The Head Coach!

ARTICLE FROM indystar.com (Full story click here)

I watched game #1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Pacers and Heat tonight and it was a great game. Tight all the way and a physical game too. The kind of game I like to watch. The game was what the NBA playoffs should be about.

But I will tell you this readers. The Pacers lost this game because of two bone headed moves by the head coach of Indiana Frank Vogel. The game went into overtime as we know and late in the game and in the final play Lebron James saw the middle wide open without big 7-2 Roy Hibbert blocking the middle.  His ass was on the bench!! And of course James being James drove the lane right to the cup for a wide open lay-in. UNREAL!!

WHY Frank Vogel took Hibbert out for two big plays is beyond me. And his excuses after the game was terrible. Vogel said he was worried about Chris Bosh poping a 15 to 20 footer. SAY WHAT? What a stupid excuse by Vogel.  He takes his BIGGEST player out of the game that can maybe block a potential James lay-in!! Like I said …UNREAL!! Anyone who knows the game of basketball knows that Vogel made TWO terrible mistakes by taking Hibbert out of the game.  Is it because Vogel is a very young head coach at 39? I don’t know. All I know is he blew the game and a possible game #1 win for the Pacers.   Gordon Curvey Comments? gcurvey@yahoo.com or www.facebook.com/gordon.curvey or www.twitter.com/gcurvey

Why We In Seattle Dislike And Hate David Stern

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Listened to a interview the other day with former Seattle Sonic star “The Wizard” Gus Williams on sports radio KJR. During the interview with host Dave Mahler, he asked Gus how he felt about David Stern after reports have come out that Stern might have helped change some of the NBA owners minds when it came to the relocation vote that came out 22-8.

Yes 22-8 to keep the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento. Gus said he can understand why we here in Seattle feel the way we do about Stern. But he also said that as a whole Stern has done a great job in running the NBA over his long term. Which in reality sorry to say is kind of true. TV ratings are good. The NBA is very popular all over the world in countries like China, Russia, Germany and many other countries overseas.

NBA players are doing commercials all over TV and radio. Unlike MLB and even the NFL. Even retired players like Shaq, Dr. J and Bill Russell and Magic Johnson and Kareem and Barkley, Larry Bird and others are featured in commercials on TV with current players like D-Wade, Durent, Griffin and others. But we here in Seattle feel another way about Stern and can’t wait until he leaves his office early next year. We are counting down the days!!

It starts with Stern and his friendship with Clay Bennett who bought the Sonics from the sellout Howard “Mr. Starbucks” Schultz in 2008. At first Bennett said he was going to keep the Sonics here in Seattle. But it seems with the help of Stern, our Sonics left after 41 years was gone to OKC. We are STILL very very hurt as sports fans with the departure of our NBA team and we feel Stern has something to do with it.  So now four years later billionaire Chris Hansen and billionaire Steve Ballmer came to the table to hopefully try to bring the NBA back to Seattle to play in a brand new state of the art arena about five minutes from where I stay in Seattle.

But to make a long story short readers, it seems David Stern has joined forces with former NBA point guard for 13 years “KJ” Kevin Johnson who happens to be the Mayor of Sacramento and this cat did what he had to do to try to keep his home town team in Sacramento.

If we had a Mayor like KJ our team would NOT have left Seattle. Our former Mayor whose name I will not put in my blog did ZERO to help keep the Sonics in Seattle. Nothing!! I will say that current Seattle Mayor McGinn joined in big time to help Hansen and Ballmer to try to get the NBA back in Seattle. But again, with the help of David Stern, the NBA will stay in Sacramento and I am very depressed as a sports fan about this.

To make matters worse David Stern started off his press conference the other day after the 22-8 vote to keep the Kings in town by saying “This will be kind of quick I have a plane to catch to Oklahoma City” WHAT A STUPID ASSHOLE!! How can this clown say such a thing after we learned the NBA will not return to Seattle. Did this fool know what he was saying? Saying he was on his way to watch a team that LEFT SEATTLE AFTER 41 YEARS WITH HIS HELP!!!  We Sonics fans will NEVER EVER forgive him for making that comment. It was like a stab in all our backs big time!!

It is time for Stern to retire NOW. He has a problem with the city of Seattle. Why we do not know. Maybe when Stern retires he will write a tell all book and let us know what is his problem with our city. I want to know. All Sonic fans want to know.

So as I said shout out to Mayor Johnson in Sacramento because this African American brotha put together a diverse group of people with money to keep the team in Sacramento. Even former NBA star and Kings player Mitch Richmond put in $1 million. This is impressive readers. We have to tell it like it is. I hope and pray that before I get to old, I can go to a NBA game here in Seattle. A new team from scratch or maybe the Bobcats or Bucks moving here. We here in Seattle just have to be depressed as NBA fans as we watch former Sonics great “The Glove” Gary Payton go into the Basketball Hall Of Fame in a few months as a Sonic. Will we see his jersey be retired in a event with my twenty year friend “The Reignman” Shawn Kemp joining Gus Williams, “The Voice” the late Bob Blackburn, the late NBA Hall Of Fame member “DJ” Dennis Johnson, Jack Sikma, another Hall Of Fame member Lenny Wilkens and “Downtown” Freddy Brown? Well I guess we have to sit and see.

Big thanks Adam Brown and Jason Reid, Brian Robinson, KJR and others for their time and effort to try to return our Sonics to Seattle.
