Baseball Needs MORE Yasiel Puiel Type Players!!

ARTICLE FROM latimes.com (click here for full story)

I have heard sports radio and ESPN and Fox Sports etc discuss the World Series between the Boston and St. Louis. In my opinion I will not be watching. Why? Because I am not interested. I don’t like both teams and baseball is one thing…BORING!! Wish the Dodgers would have made it.

When I think of St. Louis I think of former manager Tony LaRussa who had problems with African American players. If you do not believe me just Google the topic. It will back me up. Both St. Louis and Boston have a history of not having too many African American players and it ain’t no different this year folks.

Baseball needs more 5 tool exciting players like L.A. Dodger’s young budding star Yasiel Puiel.  He is going to be great for the game of baseball in the future. Once he gets into the American culture and lifestyle and hopefully learns to speak English the future is very bright for Puiel. Commercials and plenty of marketing is ahead for this fella.

Yes he can drive a manager crazy with his “lazy” catches in the outfield. He has messed up and lot of normal outfield pop ups but he makes up for it at the plate. Guys like Puiel puts fans in the seats. That is for sure. He has personality which 99% of baseball players do not have. When you hear a interview with most MLB players they sound like their dog  just ran away or their house just burnt down.

And like I have said in previous articles here on SIC, more young African Americans need to learn about and play the game of baseball but the problem is young kids don’t see African American baseball stars on TV doing commercials etc. NONE!! Correct me if I am wrong readers. You see plenty of NBA and NFL players doing commercials. Kobe, Shag,  Kareem, Lebron, D-Wade, the Mannings, D-Rose, K.D, Colin Keapernick and our own Russell Wilson and more!!

Baseball needs more outreach into the inner cities of America that is for sure!! Gordon Curvey

Seattle Mariners Need To Hire Dusty Baker NOW!

ARTICLE FROM si.com (click here for full article)

ARTICLE FROM si.com (Full story click here)

MLB manager Dusty Baker is a outstanding major league manager. He has won where ever he has been. The Cubs, Giants and the Reds and so teams that need a manager should jump on Baker because he is available.

Baker was recently fired by the Reds after getting bounced in the MLB playoffs. So now the question is where will Dusty end up? I think he should end up right here in Seattle with the Mariners. The Mariners should not waste time. HIRE DUSTY BAKER NOW!

Check this out sports fans. Baker was available as a possible manager for our Mariners back in 2002 and then GM Pat Gillick said “We are not interested” The Mariners DID NOT even interview one of best MLB managers. Let me repeat. The Seattle Mariners did not even interview one of the best managers in baseball in 2002!!! What a damn shame. The question is still hangin in my mind today as to why the Mariner GM said he was not interested in Baker. Read a 2002 article I found about this (link above).

Dusty said at that time that he and his wife loved the Northwest and he said he would love to be named Mariner manager. Of course this did not happen. And since that time the Mariners have not done a damn thing! People come to Safeco Field to knit sweaters, drink $8 beers and $8 hot dogs and text friends on the phone. Because the Mariners are ALWAYS TERRIBLE!! Including this year.

Eric Wedge walked away from the Mariners as their manager a few days ago. As a sports fan here in Seattle I am tired of watching year after year the Rays or A’s or this year the Pirates going to the playoffs while again the Mariners go nowhere after another 80 or 90 loss season. We are one of only a few teams that have not been to the Series. A beautiful ball park with a ugly team!

I listened to sports radio KJR and 710 ESPN here in Seattle and heard so called sports jocks say they don’t think Baker is a good fit here in Seattle because he does not work well with young pitchers. Excuse me readers but THAT IS BULlSHIT!! Why? Because in reality EVERY MLB manager or any head coach in the NFL or the NBA has faults we can knit-pick at!  The bottom line is Baker takes teams to the playoffs. Somewhere the Mariners have not been in years and years!!

HIRE DUSTY BAKER AND GIVE HIM SOME PLAYERS AND WE WILL WIN!!! We need a hard hitting almost five tool outfielder. We need a hard hitting first baseman. We need a lot. We need another Adam Jones. If you don’t know the star outfielder for the Orioles was traded to the O’s for basically Eric Bedard who has not done a damn thing since and Jones has because almost a superstar. The worst trade in Mariner history.

So readers will the current GM for the Mariners say we are not interested in Baker again? Let’s see.     Gordon Curvey

Gary Payton Puts Howard Schultz On Blast

ARTICLE FROM probasketballtalk.com (Full story click here)

As many of you sports fan know, “The Glove” Payton entered the Basketball Hall Of Fame last week and we here in Seattle had big smiles on our faces to see “GP” going in the Hall!! It was a great day. It was to see Bernard King FINALLY getting in too!

Payton played more than 12 years here in Seattle for our departed Sonics and became one of the greatest guards in NBA history. He teamed up with my good friend “The Reignman” Shawn Kemp for plenty of great highlight film material over the years. And become one of the best defensive guards in history. If Gary was not a first ballot Hall Of Fame member then no one is!!

“GP” was traded from the Sonics back in the day because of one clown and his name is “Mr. Starbucks” Howard Schultz. Recently Payton put Howard on blast saying he ruined the Sonics and ruined the city of Seattle when it comes to having a NBA team. And it is true folks.

Schulz is responsible for our city not having a NBA team. The Sonics were sold to Clay Bennett who moved the team to OKC and after 41 years the NBA left our city. It was and is very very sad. And Payton did not want to leave Seattle but he was traded that also was a sad day as a sports fan here in Seattle and Howard has not really showed his face in Seattle when it comes to the public since 2008 when he sold the Sonics. No interviews on sports radio or on TV. I will NEVER buy anything in Starbucks. That is for sure!!

As for many Sonic fans, we want to thank “GP” for every thing he did for our city on the court and off and hopefully we can obtain another NBA team and the Hall Of Famer Gary Payton will be in the front office!!     Gordon Curvey

Sports Inner City TV/Recorded 9-4-2013

“Sports Inner City TV” with guest Seattle Seahawk Walter Thurmond from the locker room of Century Link Stadium. Plus a hot music video! Hosted by Gordon Curvey. Based in Seattle, Washington (USA).

My First Experience At Century Link Covering The Seahawks

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I love the music business. I have been in the music industry for going on 23 years! A long time producing my urban TV show “Music Inner City TV” here in Seattle, Washington and Western Washington state. I have met and interviewed flat out legends like Chaka Khan, Al Green, George Duke, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Smokey Robinson, Rick James, Ernie Isley, Big Daddy Kane, Leon Huff and even media icon Oprah. But I also love sports.

It is the way I relax. Watching sports on TV. And for 15 years I went to Key Arena here in Seattle and did interviews at shoot-arounds before games of our departed Seattle Sonics. And I have covered our Seattle Mariners for the last five or six years at batting practice. I have interviewed Shaq, Barkley, Dirk, Phil Jackson, Reggie Jackson (two times), Derek Jeter (two times), CeCe Sabathia, Torii Hunter, C-Webb, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, George Karl and on and on.

But for some unknown reason I have never covered our NFL team…the Seattle Seahawks. I just don’t know why. I called and talked to media relations many times but never covered the team. Until now!!

I am very happy to say I covered the home games of the pre-season at Century Link Stadium and it was so much fun. Readers when I cover sports it is not work. It is big time fun!! It was my first time inside of Century Link and my first time in the press room with all the rest of the media. I even met NFL guru John Clayton and snapped a pic (Clayton pic here in the story) and talked to guys from KJR, 710 ESPN, the Fan 1090 and more.

Then after the game I was allowed in the Seahawks locker room and did short interviews with players. A few of them have been cut so I will not show my interviews with cut players. All the players were great to me. And I hope to conduct many more!

By the way I also covered Seahawk training camp in Renton, Washington for two days. Interviews can be seen on “Music Inner City TV” and soon here on “Sports Inner City TV” We just did not discuss football but music too.

I hope and pray I will be allowed to cover the regular season at Century Link for the regular season for the Hawks. I have a audience that for sure KJR, 710, the Fan etc does not reach. Our slogan for “M.I.C-TV” and “S.IC-TV” is “Mixing Music & Sports”  I have done this for almost 23 years readers. O.K. folks….IT IS TIME FOR THE NFL TO KICKOFF IT’S SEASON!! As Russell Wilson says at the end of almost every interview….GO HAWKS!!!!!
