In the press area of Century Link Stadium for the Seahawks vs Raiders pre-season game. Will give report on the game later right here on “Sports Inner City Online”

Well it has finally happened…..maybe. NBA all time great Allen Iverson says he will officially retire from playing basketball in the NBA and elsewhere. Let’s see how this holds up folks.

I say this because I am sure that at 38 A.I. still thinks he can play. I am almost sure of this. But I think it is time for Iverson to move on with his life and get ready for going into the Basketball Hall Of Fame in four years. He should go in on the first ballot just like former Sonic great Gary Payton who is going in the Hall very soon.

What is so sad about the story of A.I. is all the negative press he has got over the years going back to early in his career. On the court he was great, off the court he was not.

But now since he is going to retire, maybe he can be like Mike Tyson and become a positive force in what ever he decides to do. Tyson is doing all kinds of positive things now. Allen can do the same.

Maybe Allen can become a coach or work in the front office of the 76ers. Allen Iverson can do positive things if he wants to. But it is all up to him readers. He has to say that he will do positive things after working off the courts of the NBA and elsewhere.

It is real sad that A.I. blew millions of dollars on big cars, big homes, big watches and chains etc. Word is he still has big money coming in. So the question is what will Iverson do with the big money he still has? I guess we will see. But I hope and pray that Iverson will do something positive in his life. To be truthful I am kind of worried for Allen. I really am.

I am worried because A.I. loved the play basketball so much. Now he is 38 and it is time to move on. So what will he do next? I don’t know readers but I hope it is positive. I don’t want to hear about A.I. getting in trouble. I want to hear about Allen maybe helping kids in some way at a school or a college. Maybe becoming a coach in the NBA or college. We will see what Allen Iverson will do next.

“KD” Returns Here In Seattle To Play In Jamal Crawford Pro-Am

ARTICLE FROM nba.com (Full story click here)

As we know here in Seattle our NBA team that was here for 41 years the Seattle Sonics left for OKC in 2008 and when they left a real young skinny kid named Kevin Durant left two. And we had to watch from a distance to see “KD” grow as a NBA star. And man is he a star and he still only 24 years old.

“KD” is a three time scoring champ already and he is seen in commercials all over TV so he is what you call a NBA super star. And you never hear anything negative regarding “KD” He ain’t at the clubs at 2am (if their is a club in Oklahoma City) he is never in the news for negative stuff. He is a perfect role model for young kids.

And we found out here in Seattle at Seattle native and NBA player Jamal Crawford’s Summer Pro-Am League that Kevin is a VERY popular dude who we sports fans and NBA fans miss. Durant played in Crawford’s game and scored 62 points in 60 something shots who cares about the stats. “KD” was hoopin again here in Seattle. It was clear that basketball fans really miss “KD” here in Seattle. We have watched Durant on TV getting better and better.

And it seems Durant really really misses Seattle too. Man if we can only get the NBA back to Seattle. Because I think Kevin would want to play here in Seattle again if the team was good. But again it was a great time here in Seattle for the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am. Washington Wizard player and Seattle resident Montell Webster made some highlight reel dunks and watched “KD” a lot of the game.

Of course Kevin made some vicious dunks to and the crowd cheered big time. Jamal did his crowd pleasing crossover moves and another NBA player from Seattle big Spencer Hawes had a good game as did former Husky Will Conroy. I am glad I went and I interviewed Hawes, Conroy and former Husky Tre Simmons after the game. Airing soon on “Music Inner City TV”/Sports Inner City Online”   Gordon Curvey

Parcells, Carter, Sapp & Others Are Inducted In NFL Hall Of Fame

ARTICLE FROM sports.yahoo.com (click here for full article)

It is great every year to watch the latest players and coaches that enter the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. I love basketball (not so much baseball), but the HFL Hall Of Fame is the best by far to watch on TV.

Every year numourous  great players and coaches are named to be in the Hall. This year the players/coaches were Chris Carter, Bill Parcells, Larry Allen, Dave Robinson, Curly Culp, Johnathan Ogden and last but not least Warren Sapp. Everybody gave great speeches and it was emotional for everyone including their families.

Parcells said a funny line when he said he hopes that when the NFL puts his statue in the hall he hopes they put his next to his former player the great “L.T”) Lawrance Taylor so he can keep a eye on him. Of course we all know the troubles L.T. has had the last few years.

Chris Carter waited for a long time to be voted in the Hall. Six years in a row he waited to get voted in and he did not make it. Of course he was disappointed every year. Some people thought the Hall was making him suffer because of his off the field problems and also because Carter is outspoken on issues. But doggone it he finally was voted in and it was about time.

Curly Culp waited the longest. He played in the 60’s and early 70’s. He was a great great player. Larry Allen was very emotional while giving his speech. He is from Compton, California and grew up in a rough area but because of the sport of football he has made a name for himself and has been able to take care of his family and much more.

And Sapp gave a emotional speech too. It was great to see his daughter introduce him to be inducted in the NFL Hall Of Fame. All in all again the NFL Hall Of Fame event is the best of all sports. Hell look at baseball right now. Because of the steroids problems guys that are elgible to be in Hall like Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa and Barry Clemens are not voted in. This is terrible.

The basketball Hall is a great event too but in my opinion it does not come up to the NFL Hall Of Fame.

Riley Cooper Racist Slur Is A Problem For The Eagles

ARTICLE FROM philly.com (Full story click here)

UPDATE: Riley Cooper has left Eagles camp to get some help with this problem. Some Eagle teammates are having problems right now with Cooper for what he said in the concert.

Guess you have heard about this story because it is a big story. NFL player and a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Riley Cooper was at a country music concert and something happened at the show and one thing led to another and Cooper went off.

Cooper went off because he had a problem with a African American security guard and Cooper then used the N word and someone taped it on a phone and it went viral.

And now all hell has broke out for Cooper. He was fined by the Eagles and Cooper went on the say how very sorry he is for using the N word. But damage has been done. People are saying what is going on with this cat? Cooper said he had been drinking and that he is not a racist and his actions is not the real Riley Cooper.

Eagle QB Mike Vick said he supports Cooper but the question is how do other Eagle players feel about Cooper for what he did. And how will other NFL players treat Cooper? Will he be hit hard for players who play the Eagles? I think so. I think Riley Cooper has better watch his back for him. Mark my words

So let’s see what happens to Cooper this season. I feel he should have been suspended at least 2 games without pay. It did not happen so let’s see what happens to Riley Cooper this season. Is Cooper a racist? I don’t know. Who know what he says about African Americans around his friends and family.     Gordon Curvey
