Did The Seattle Mariners Make A Move For Upton?

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Click here for full story)

As a sport and fan here in Seattle I am aware that our Seattle Mariners have not played in the big series….the World Series in October. And the question is do they want to go to the Series?

The Mariners recently announced they will have a HUGE HUGE tv screen/scoreboard at Safeco Field here in town. The biggest tv screen/scoreboard in a stadium in the U.S. Even bigger than the one at Cowboy Stadium. This is great for the fans coming to see games at Safeco. But what about a winning team to watch?

I am tired of watching other teams in the playoffs and World Series. I am tired of seeing big parades after the home team wins the Series. It is time for the Seattle Mariners to be in the World Series. But if they do not make big moves as far as players we ain’t going nowhere. Real talk!

The Braves just signed B.J. Upton to new contract. He is a still young five tool player. Did the Mariners make a move to sign Upton? Most likely not. This is not new from the Mariner front office. It is great to build a huge scoreboard/tv screen at Safeco. And it is great that the Mariners are bringing in the fences but what about making a big move like a B.J. Upton or even his brother?

What about making a trade for a Ryan Howard or Matt Kemp? A BIG move to try to win games. Maybe the Mariners just want to sign players like Chone Figgins etc. And have fans come to beautiful Safeco Field and drink $7 beers and $7 hot dogs and have ladies sit in the stands and knit a sweater or text friends in their phone or obtain a great sun tan on a hot day. It seems that is what the Mariners want to do to me and MANY other fans.

It is time for the Seattle Mariners to show us fans that they want to go to the playoffs or even the World Series and have more excitement at Safeco other than when “King” Felix is on the mound and a huge new tv screen/scoreboard.  Gordon Curvey
