Gary Payton Trying To Bring The Sonics Back To Seattle

ARTICLE FROM seattlepi.com (Full story click here)

As news of possible trades in the NBA as the training camps open, I am here in Seattle without a NBA to watch and it is still very very sad for me as a NBA fan and basketball junky.

The Sonics left town a few years ago after the clown “Mr. Starbuck’s” Howard Schultz sold the team to Clay Bennett who moved the team to dust town Oklahoma City. A one pro sports town. Truly sad. Because the Seattle Sonics were here for FOURTY YEARS readers.

When the Sonics left, it was a very sad day for me. I covered the Sonics at shootarounds for about 15 years and did interviews with Micheal Jordan, Big Shaq (at least four times), Ishiah Thomas, Chris Webber, Phil Jackson and on and on. I interviewed MJ when for the last time he came to Seattle with the Bulls.

“The Glove” Gary Payton is a Seattle sports legend and a for sure first ballot Hall Of Fame member. And he is very outspoken about having a NBA team back in Seattle. He wants to be part of a ownership team to help bring the Seattle Sonics back here to play. He told us just that in a interview we did with GP a few months ago at a Sonics tribute held by the Seattle Mariners.

Shout out to GP!! Let’s keep up the fight along the fellas at Sonicsgate to bring the sport I love so much, the NBA back to where it belongs, Seattle, Washington!!  Gordon Curvey
