I am a cat who like many of the African American players in the sports world grew up in a middle class household. Some players grew up dirt poor and this is real talk. Ten kids in a three bedroom house with only their mom in the house working trying to put food on the table for their families.

A % of these kids grow up to fulfill their dreams and play in the NFL and NBA and MLB. They sign contracts to make MILLIONS of dollars playing in the pros. These guys go from being poor to being rich overnight. They go from driving a 1998 Ford Taurus to a brand new 2014 Mercedes and buying a big home in the suburbs. Playing a kids game.

Some guys realize they are very very lucky to be drafted and very lucky to make millions. But some guys like former Seahawk Golden Tate need to wake up and smell the doggone coffee. Guys like Tate need to realize how damn lucky they are to be playing in the NFL and being on a team that won the Super Bowl with our team here in Seattle.

But Tate who recently signed with the Lions for 5 yrs/$31 million says the Seahawks offer to him here in the off season was “laughable”. He said this and much more on local sports radio station 710 ESPN here in Seattle. First of all I think all African Americans need to stay off of 710 ESPN and I will do a story as to why very soon here on SIC. And I think Tate was flat out wrong with his silly comments.

NFL and NBA and MLB players are VERY lucky to make millions of dollars and buy big homes and drive expensive cars and take care of the family etc. Here is a question sports fans. HOW MUCH MONEY DOES TATE AND OTHER PLAYERS NEED? The money the Hawks offered Tate would take care of him and family for the rest of his days on earth and his kids too. It seems many of these inner city cats have forget where in the hell they came from. I don’t give a damn about the saying “this is a business”.

I have learned to survive and pay my bills on a limited budget. Yes I want to make more. But when I do make more I will be happy. These spoiled brats like Tate and others in the NFL and other pro sports need to get off their high horse and realize that god has touched them to be in pro sports and millions of kids wish they could be like them. They are VERY VERY LUCKY AND BLESSED!!

It is laughable what Golden Tate said on the radio. Tate talks like he was god’s gift to the Seahawks. Give me a damn break!! He was good but not all that folks. So if the Lions wanted to offer Tate 31 mil YO GOLDEN BE HAPPY TAKE THE DAMN MONEY AND BE QUIET AND STAY OFF THE RADIO WHINING!! PLAY FOOTBALL AND SPEND YOUR MILLIONS AND SHUT UP BRO!!  Gordon Curvey
