Kidd Is The New Head Coach Of The Nets: How & Why?

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Today I see that future Hall Of Fame member Jason Kidd has been named the next head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. The question is how and why? Kidd just retired from the NBA after a great 19 year career a few weeks ago. Now all of a sudden he is a head coach of a NBA team.

In my opinion this is not fair and wrong. How can Kidd walk off the court and then walk into being a head coach when cats like Patrick Ewing, Brian Shaw and Quinn Snyder and others are still waiting for their chance to be a head coach after being serving their dues. Kidd has not served his dues. He has zero head coaching experience. Warrior head coach Mark Jackson walking from the broadcasting booth and became a head coach. Something ain’t right.

Kidd says he will name a series of coaches with experience to help him starting soon. But still readers I think it is just not fair for Jason Kidd to retire and then get named as a head coach in the NBA. Guys like “Mr. Sonic” Nate Millian has years of head coaching experience. Was he in line for the Nets head coaching position? I guess not.

Patrick Ewing was just named to be a coach with the Bobcats which is great. But he should be a head coach by now and so should Brian Shaw and Quinn Snyder and others. Kidd is a very smart dude with years of experience on the court and since he is 40 he can most likely relate to today’s younger players but again he has never been a head coach anywhere. High school, college and of course the NBA. Again I think this is unfair and wrong.
