“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

It is truly sad that our NBA team that was here for forty-one years, the Seattle Sonics was taken away to OKC a few years ago. A outrage, terrible and wrong.

We have to watch young budding superstar Kevin Durant blossom from a kid to a man from a far and on Sports Center.

Seattle is not in the mix for landing “King James” or Chris Bosh or D-Wade or Joe Johnson as NBA free agents because we don’t have a damn team!!

On this point needs to be brought out. “The Glove” Gary Payton played in Seattle for about 13 seasons and gave his all on the court as one of best point guards in the history of the NBA, and off the court with his Gary Payton Foundation which did a lot for inner city kids in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

And what is sad is with our NBA team gone, Payton’s jersey cannot be put in the rafters of Key Arena with other past Sonics like “Downtown” Fred Brown, Gus Williams, Jack Sikma and former Sonic broadcaster “The Voice” the late Bob Blackburn, and Lenny Wilkens.

Somehow their needs to be a event in Key Arena to put Gary’s jersey in the rafters with past Sonic’s greats. This has to happen.

So we can say thanks to G.P. for every thing for Seattle on and off the court. And even in the future with hopefully the return of the Seattle Sonics to our town.
