Sheryl Swoopes Bio

For those of you who do not know, one of the greatest ladies player of all time is a new member of the Seattle Storm and she is Sheryl Swoopes.

Swoopes comes to Seattle with arguably the most impressive WNBA resume in the history of the 11-year league. Named the league's Most Valuable Player three times (2000,2002,2005), she is also the all-time leader in the WNBA in total steals with 589 and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and 2003. She was also named to the WNBA's All Defensive First Team in 2005 and 2006.

Not only is Swoopes considered one of the best stoppers in the WNBA, she has established herself as a complete player in all aspects of the game. She has been named to the WNBA All First Team five times (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2005) and is fourth on the all time scoring list in the WNBA with 4,399 points as of the end of last season.

She joins a Seattle Storm team that has a chance to win their second WNBA title. Look for Swoopes to wear the same number (#22) she has worn for all her 11 years in the league. We here in Seattle welcome Sheryl Swoopes to our city and to the Seattle Storm.     G.C
