Sports fans I feel the WNBA does not get credit as a great league for ladies hoops. Truth be told I do not cover the WNBA like I should and this is no lie. For which I am sorry.

Having said that, happy as hell that our own Seattle Storm won their third WNBA title recently by beating the Washington Mystics in a sweep 98-82 in Washington D.C. Led by season MVP and also series MVP Breanna Stewart and all time great point guard Sue Bird the Storm brings back to Seattle another trophy!! It was great to see Bird win another title.  Here is a fact, Sue Bird is heading to the Basketball Hall Of Fame.

And Stewart after that and you can mark that down. Stewart already is a all time great. And she has many more years to play. Remember Stewart and Bird were great in college at UConn.

And in some breaking news, the Seattle Storm led by Sue Bird has said the team has decided any if they were invited by Mr. Trump, they would follow the NBA champs Golden State Warriors and refuse to visit the White House. In my opinion a good move by the team and check this out.

Do you think Mr. Trump knows anything about our Seattle Storm and the WNBA? I do not think so. Yes many will say a Seattle Storm team winning another WNBA title is not like the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl or our Seattle Mariners FINALLY making the playoffs and winning the Series. But as a sports fan I am very happy to say CONGRATULATIONS to the Seattle Storm for reppin my home city of Seattle and winning the WNBA title!! THANK YOU SO MUCH LADIES!!! Gordon Curvey

I Feel Sorry For Naomi Osaka/What is Next For Serena?

ARTICLE FROM chicagotribune.com (full story click here)

I am not a big time tennis fan I will admit. Since they were young teenagers I only watched tennis when Venus and Serena Williams where playing. Just like I am not a big golf fan but I watched when Tiger Woods is playing.

Of course if you are a sports fan, the William sisters have dominated female tennis. Setting all time records along the way. Richard Williams their father did a great job in bringing up and training this girls coming up from Compton, Ca. He also told his girls coming up and playing in a “white” sport to be aware of the R word…racism.

And of course Venus and Serena have had to deal with racism all their career. Sad to say this but it is true. Fans calling them “niggas” and “monkeys” and “gorillas” etc. Very very sad folks.

But despite the racism, Venus and Serena kept their heads up and continued to dominate female tennis. And earn millions of dollars and because tremendous role models for young African American girls. You know they are superstars when you can just say Venus or Serena instead of their whole names.

Sorry I am not going to lie and I know I will get beat up for this BUT knowing where Serena came from, Compton, Ca..I was very very disappointed that she married a white fella. I wish she could have married a black fella But she can love who she wants right? And I think Venus boyfriend is a white fella. Oh well.

Anyway what happened to Serena at the US Open was just wrong and sorry to say it was racism. Serena has fought back to be a contender again after having a baby. She is one of the greatest female sports stars of all time.

I am reading all the feedback about the incident, negative and positive about how Serena handled the situation. It is amazing how folks talk negative about Serena. They do not walk in her shoes or sister Venus shoes and all the racism they have had to deal with since their father Richard trained his girls to be tennis players.

Like I have said, I feel so sorry for Naomi Osaka. Last weekend she beat her tennis idol. And it was covered over because of the incident. The young lady is only 20 years old. She has a long career ahead of her. I wish her the best and I hope she has many many more wins. Watching the young lady cry after getting her US Open trophy and huge check made me cry.

So what will happen to Serena next? How will she handle things in the future? She got fined $17,000 for her actions at the US Open. Wow!! That is like a penny in her couch!! She is a multi-millionaire. The question is how will umps treat Serena as well as Venus in the future. We will see readers.

Sports Inner City Bio: Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton was born January 7, 1985. He was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Lewis interest in race cars started when his dad bought him a radio controlled car when he was about 6 years old.

Hamilton was signed to McLaren’s young driver support program in 1998. After Lewis won the British Fomula Renault, Formal 3 Euro Series plus the GP2 championship on the ladder to success he made his Formula One debut for McLaren in 2007. And wow has he blown up since then!

He comes from mixed family. His dad is black and mom is white. Lewis is the first and ONLY black driver to race in Formula One racing. This is a great story.

In Lewis Hamilton’s first season in Formula One, he set numerous records as finished second in the 2007 season to drive Kimi Raikkonen by only one point. After four more years with the McLaren team Lewis decided to sign with Mercedes in 2013. joining his childhood racing partner Nico Rosberg.

In Hamilton’s first season, he finished fourth. But after that it has been a uphill ride for Lewis! Wow two winning seasons followed for Lewis as he won two World Championships in a row.

The winning for Hamilton has just continued over the years for his Mercedes team. He knows he is a “wanted” man but he continues to win race after race. As I type this mini-bio on Hamilton he is ahead in the point race again for Formula One Racing. I watch the races just to see how Hamilton is doing. I am learning more and more about the sport.

Hamilton won the points title in 2017, his fourth World title. Earlier Lewis signed a two year contract with Mercedes that is reported to be worth up to a whopping $40 million. He is the highest paid driver in Formula One history.

Hamilton is only 33 years old. He has a lot of years left as a Formula One driver. I wonder if Lewis will want another challenge in a few years. Maybe coming to America to drive Indy Cars. That would be great for race car fans in the United States. To see Lewis Hamilton race in America on a regular basis. Formula One has one race in America every season.

We do not hear about Hamilton being in any type of trouble with the law etc. Yes, he is kind of known as a “playboy” because he deals with a lot of beautiful ladies. Lewis lives in Switzerland. At one time he was dating Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls.

Formula One racing is not as popular in the U.S. as it is overseas. Of course they not have Indy Car racing overseas. They obtain huge crowds in races across the water and Hamilton is a household name in England and France and elsewhere.

Not so here in America. That is why I am typing this article about Lewis Hamilton. The only black Formula One driver and a man with talent and charisma too.
