Barkley To Return To Broadcasting With EJ and Kenny

ARTICLE FROM nba.com (full article click here)

Glad to see Chuck back with TNT. In my opinion Gary “The Glove” Payton and “C-Webb” Chris Webber did a great job filling in for Barkley, but let’s face it, their is only one Charles Barkley.

Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Chuck are a Emmy award winning team. And as a sports fan, something was missing during the recent NBA All Star game in Phoenix and it was Barkley.

Barkley brings something to the table every game. You may not agree with Charles all the time, but Barkley is Barkley.

GP and C-Webb will return to doing programs with NBA-TV along with Tacoma’s own Ahmad Rashad.

I hope he has learned his lesson from his recent drinking and driving problems. Welcome back Charles!! And please stay out of trouble!! Gordon Curvey

Rumors Swiring Around Phoenix Suns

ARTICLE FROM ktar.com (full story click here)

Please read article (click above) about the rumors concerning trading Amare Stoudemire or Big Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal away to another team very soon.

The Suns have gone from a exciting fast break running team to a slower pace team with Shaq in the middle. And it has created some problems with the fans in Phoenix and the front office management team.

Will they trade a young and exciting player in Amare or trade Shaq who we all know is playing very well this year, but is 37 and only has a year or two left in his Hall of Fame career? This is the question as I write this.

A trade could happen at any time. We will have all the breaking news right here on Sports Inner City Online. G.C.

Seattle’s Own Robinson Wins NBA Dunk Contest

ARTICLE FROM NBC SPORTS (full story click here)

Seattle native Nate Robinson won the Slam Dunk contest at this year’s NBA All Star Weekend in Phoenix. He beat last years winner Dwight Howard.

After his dunks, little Nate shouted out “That’s the way we do it in the 206!” 206 is Seattle’s area code.

As I have said here on Sports Inner City Online, their are many players in the NBA from the Seattle area like Robinson, Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford, Rodney Crawford, Spencer Hawes, Jason Terry, Marcus Williams, Aaron Brooks and even the D-League leading scorer, Will Conroy who will be in the NBA real soon.

And their is a young fella on Louisville, Terrence Williams from Seattle who will for sure be in the NBA in a year or two.

And their is a young dude on the University Of Washington Huskies, Isiah Thomas who is also from the Seattle area who also will be in the NBA as well as the U-Dub’s big center John Brockman.

Congraulations to the New York Knick’s and Seattle’s resident Nate Robinson for winning the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.     Gordon Curvey

2009 NBA All Star Game In Phoenix

The 2009 NBA All Star Weekend is here taking place in Phoenix. The NBA All Star Weekend is the best all star game/activities in all of sports.

It is a lot of fun watching the best athletes in the world doing their thing and having fun. Everyone has a good time attending and watching on tv the various things that take place during the NBA All Star Weekend.

This year along with the Slam Dunk and Long Range competition and more, the activities include a players playing a game called H.O.R.S.E

Where players make a shot and the other player has to make it. If they miss, it is a letter.

It is going to be real interesting to see what the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard will come up with in the Slam Dunk contest after last year where he put on the Superman cape and flew though the air for a dunk that was off the hook!!

In my opinion, the Major League All Star Game is is very boring except for the home run contest and of course the NFL game is after the season and I have NEVER watched the game. That is a fact.

During the NBA All Star Weekend their is always a lot of concerts, events and a whole bunch of celebrities will hit town, It is the place to be for sure.

Hopefully I will be able to cover the 2010 game in Dallas for Sports Inner City Online.

It is to bad that their will not be any Seattle Sonics at the NBA All Star Weekend. For the first time in 41 years, this is the case because we do not have a team.

For us NBA junkies here in Seattle, it is very very sad. Guess I will hope Seattle’s Brandon Roy does well in the game and Seattle’s Nate Robinson will do well in the dunk contest. Gordon Curvey

Griffey Could Be Back With The Mariners Soon

ARTICLE IN THE SEATTLE TIMES (full story click here)

P.S. As a sports fan and Griffey fan, I am happy as hell Grif may be back with the Seattle Mariners real soon. I don’t care if he is 39 years old.

I am happy he will be able to end his career where he started it. Just like he wants. Hopefully he can help the young players on the Mariners, hit a few homers, make a great catch now and then bring more African American fans to Safeco Field.

To the last point, as I write this, the Mariners have zero African Americans on the team, in management and they do little to zero advertising in African American owned media.

When I approch the Mariners media people, I get a bunch of excuses each and every year. This is a problem for sure.

Bringing Grif Jr. back can only help all the way around hopefully.

Grif Jr. did a lot for inner city kids while in Seattle. Mainly at Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club here in Seattle. He took a bunch of kids to Disneyland every year and more.

Like former Sonic Shawn Kemp, he does it because he wants to, and not for headlines.

I hope the Mariners will sign Grif Jr. soon. And we can all say here in Seattle “Welcome Back.”   Gordon Curvey
