K.G. Wants So Called “Problems” On Celtics Kept In House

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Celtics star Kevin Garnett wants the so called problems in the Celtic locker room kept in house. This follows Rashon Rondo’s comments to the media recently about problems on the Celtics team.

Rondo said some players might have hidden agendas. Of course he did not name names but as a fan you wonder what is he talking about and who he is talking about.

Is it some of the vets like Ray Allen or Paul Pierce or even K.G.? Who is it?

Of course this kind of stuff happens on all teams during a long season of 82 games. Problems will pop up now and then. For sure win they are having problems winning games.

One thing I have a big problem with is players or head coaches blasting other teammates or players in the media instead of saying “no comment”

Former Seattle Sonics head coach and current head coach of the Nuggets George Karl has always had a problem of blasting some of his players in the media. That is wrong. Very wrong in my opinion.

That is a quick way of turning your players off.

I think all possible problems on a NBA or NFL or MLB team should be kept in house just like Kevin Garnett said. Why Rondo went before the media and said this stuff is beyond me. Is it because he is still a young player? Who knows. But it should not happen again.

And if Garnett has anything to do with it, Rondo will chill out before he says stuff in the media.

Tom Watson Blasts Tiger Woods/ Is This Needed By Him?

ARTICLE FROM nbcsports.com (Full story click here

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I just returned from Los Angeles to cover the Grammy Awards and the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party for “Music Inner City TV” and went online to see that golf legend Tom Watson put Tiger Woods on blast.

He said Woods needs to show humility and needs to stop swearing on the golf course. I think Watson needs to chill out and keep his comments to himself.

I am getting bothered by these golfers coming out and blasting Tiger in the doggone media. Why are they doing this readers?

This is uncalled for PERIOD!!! The golf game WOULD NOT BE AS POPULAR AS IT IS WITHOUT TIGER WOODS!!

I would NEVER watch golf it Woods is not in it. I would rather watch paint dry on a house than watch the PGA without Tiger.

Yo Tommy, you had your day so please chill out and enjoy the Legends Tour. And by the way, Tiger is not hurting anyone when he shows emotion after missing a putt etc. Tiger would not be Tiger if he did not show emotion on the golf course!!!

99% of the players on the PGA tour have personalities like a rock outside of my apartment. NONE!!! They can make a 50 putt and you would think the players mom just died or their dog ran away. No emotion what so ever.

In my opinion, when Tiger is ready to come back, I will be very happy to watch him play and win events again. And hopefully he has learned his lesson about his love life and will be a much better man.

Like I have said, I do not give a damn about Tiger’s love life. It is his business.

Again I think Watson and all the rest of the players need to STOP talking to the press about Tiger and what he should and should not do. Are they angels? NO!!! So stop trying to act like they are.

New Orleans Saints Going To The Super Bowl To Play The Colts

ARTICLE FROM nola.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

For the first time in their 43 year history, the New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl after  beating the Vikings 31-28 in New Orleans.

I think this is great for the Saints and great for the city of New Orleans after what they are going though after Hurricane Katrina. They are still recovering after the terrible hurricane.

The Saints won on a 40 yard field goal by Garrett Hartley to win the NFC title game and go on to the Super Bowl in a few weeks in Miami to play Payton Manning and the Colts. The Colts beat the Jets to move on to the Super Bowl.

Brett Farve threw a interception to end the Vikings chances for going to the Super Bowl. One you never do is pass the ball across the field like Farve did. Just like in basketball, you do not pass the ball across the court.

One thing for sure the Vikings would not be in the position they were in without Brett. He had a great season for a 40 year old QB. Maybe one of his best.

I hope the fans of the Vikings realize this and not blast him for that last play. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Now we have to wait and see again to find out if he is going to retire again. I think he should. He took a terrible beating in the game.

So now Drew Brees and the Saints move on to the Super Bowl in Miami. Let the hype begin for the next two weeks. Two weeks is to long. They should play the doggone game a week after the title games in my opinion.

Fans Should Not Vote For NBA All Star Game

ARTICLE FROM si.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

In my opinion the fans SHOULD NOT vote for the starters of the NBA All star game. It is just not fair and just not right when the fans vote.

Look at this year. “The Answer” Allen Iverson will be starting for the East team. Is this right readers when he is averaging about 15 points a game and has hardly played this season? Was traded, retired and came back etc. This is just not right.

Players who should be on the team will be left off because of the fans voting on the starters. The fans are voting because they like the player, they are not looking at his stats for the season. Not at all.

A.I says if the fans vote for him, he is going to play. Allen is a Hall Of Famer and one of the greatest players of all time. But I think Iverson should take the high road and sit the game out and allow someone who should be playing or starting to be there.

But this will not happen of course. Also Tracy McGrady was voted to be in the All-Star game. Again this is wrong. Like Iverson, he has hardly played this season.

I hope David Stern will do something about this rule and do it soon. I agree with Charles Barkley. A.I. should sit the game out and not play.

Greenburg Says “Coon” Instead Of King On ESPN

ARTICLE FROMhuffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I was online and I just noticed this story above in the Huffington Post about sports talk host Mike Greenburg of “Mike and Mike In The Morning” on ESPN Radio and the STUPID AND CRAZY “mistake” over the air when he said “Martin Luther Coon” instead of Martin Luther King. HOW IN THE WORLD COULD HE MAKE THIS MISTAKE?

Readers, do you know what the word “coon” means? Let’s but it this way. It is like calling me a “nigga” Pure and simple folks. Maybe Mike had some crack before he went on the air? Who knows. All I know is Greenburg made a major mistake with saying that word over the air about Dr. King.

But here is the thing folks. There is a problem in sports radio. Here in Seattle we have sports radio 710 ESPN and KJR. Together they have a grand total of ZERO African Americans/people of color on the air. Not only that but their is no African American/people of color producers, none in sales and none in management.

This is a problem when African Americans/people of color dominate the three major sports in football/basketball and baseball and even Tiger in golf and Serena and Venus in tennis. Issues of race comes up all the time and when you do not have a African American or person of color over the air, it is a major problem.

KJR and 710 ESPN here in Seattle on air crews act like a “country club” or “Elk’s Club”. They act like friends and buddies instead of workmates. They text each other, call each other etc away from work.

KJR has been on the air for two decades and NEVER had a African American/person of color over the air with his or hers own show. The question is why? 710ESPN here in Seattle is a new station who had a chance to have a African American/person of color over the air but did not. This is wrong.

So with Greenburg saying what he said over the air, I was not surprised. You know why? Because most likely these guys use the word “coon” and the “n” word all the time around the water cooler at work. Greenburg most of forgot he was on the air.

I have been outspoken about KJR for years but nothing has worked. They have blocked out what ever I bring to the table. Management seems not to care. This is truly truly sad. I will always think differently about Mike Greenburg and Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio. I have put them in the same bag as Seattle’s 710ESPN and KJR.

Don’t forget the people of Haiti. They are suffering and need our help badly. Please text “Haiti 90999” and help. They need water and food and other things to survive. PLEASE HELP!
