“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Sports fans I continue to see articles online about the unfair firing of Dusty Baker by the Washington Nationals.
Remember Baker was fired by the Nats AFTER ONLY TWO SEASONS IN WHICH HE WON TWO DIVISION TITLES! THIS IS CRAZY!
It is beyond me and many many others how and why this happened. Baker is still wondering how and why this happened. Washington National players are still wondering how and why this happened. It is just crazy.
Especially when you see how the Nats are not doing well so far this season. Hanging around .500 for the season. They are a huge disappointment this season.
Keep in mind also their has been player outbursts and even a freakin team meeting right before the All-Star break. This stuff never happened under Baker. Why you may ask? Because the team was winning games that’s why!
I have called the Washington Nationals team offices to get a answer as to why Baker was fired after last season. And never get a front office person on the phone but others said “they wanted to go in another direction” SAY WHAT?? A direction of not winning games for the fans of the Nats? What does that mean? I just do not understand sports fans. Do you?
Dave Martinez is the current manager of the Washington Nationals. In my opinion he has not done a good job. Heck just look at the teams record. Plus let’s tell the truth.
If Martinez does not lead the team to the playoffs and then the World Series, he will be a failure after Dusty Baker took the Nats to the playoffs two years in a row.
No, Baker did not take the Nats to the Series but was that a reason to fire him? I say a big fat no! And I cannot type this blog without mentioning that right now in MLB, their is only ONE African American manager, Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers who I was lucky enough to land a interview with here in Seattle. Details soon on my Roberts interview.
It is as obvious as two left shoes that the Nationals miss the leadership of Dusty Baker. I will never understand why the front office of the Nationals sat in a room and said they want to “go in another direction” and fire Baker. Well readers as we go into the month of September the “other direction” is downhill.
The man I interviewed here in Seattle at Safeco Field, Dave Roberts the manager of the L.A. Dodgers is the only African American manager in baseball.
There should be at least one more and that person is Dusty Baker. Instead of being at home or going fishing, he should be managing a MLB ball club. This is a fact.
