P.S. Hank Aaron, Reggie Jackson, Willie McCovey, Rod Carew, Doc Ellis, Willie Stargell, Frank Robinson, Lee Maye, Willie Davis, Don Buford and Bobby Bonds. These are African American players I watched playing in the 1971 MLB All Star Game on MLB Network.
Here in 09, there are only a few African Americans playing in this years All Star game. The question is why is this happening? I blame MLB.
Young African American youth can care less about running home to watch the All Star game. Unlike the NBA All Star Game. They care about that. The NBA All Star Weekend is very popular with young inner city kids who want to watch the dunk contest and three point shoot out and more. They can care less about the home one contest and legends game.
Our Seattle Mariners and Major League Baseball do a terrible job in reaching young African American youth who have turned away from playing baseball in the last 15 to 20 years. The “RBI League” is not enough.
There needs be more outreach. Heck, how many African American players do you see doing TV commercials on national TV like Torii Hunter or Ryan Howard or Carl Crawford?
1971 MLB All Game had eleven African Americans in the game, 2009 hardly any. Why is the question? Major League Baseball needs to realize that baseball is no longer “America’s Past Time” If it is, for who?

P.S. It is great that MLB is stepping up to allow inner city kids to be in St. Louis to enjoy the MLB All Star Weekend.
It is great that the Jr. RBI League and RBI league is stepping up to help get inner city kids interested in baseball again BUT their needs to be much more readers.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. African American youth are just not playing baseball after little league. They are playing football and basketball and running track.
Why is this happening? Why are young inner city kids not playing baseball? Why is it when I watch my home town team the Seattle Mariners I do not see young inner city kids at Safeco Field?
Pro baseball needs to do more to reach inner city kids about the game of baseball. These kids do not have Ryan Howard or Torii Hunter or Jermaine Dye pictures on their wall. They have Kobe, D-Wade and Reggie Bush. This is a problem. Kids don;t run home to watch the MLB All Star game like they do the NBA All Star game. Gordon Curvey

P.S. Jamal Crawford is a role model for young kids in the inner city and out. You don’t here about J.C hanging out in clubs and getting in trouble etc.
You hear about Crawford doing things in the community for kids with his foundation with basketball camps and other events. He is also a good father to his kids.
Seattle can be proud of all the players in the NBA. Crawford, Spencer Hawes, Jason “The Jet” Terry, Rodney Stuckey, Montel Webster, the recently drafted Terrance Williams, Brandon Roy are all good people. Role models for kids to look up too.
Big shout out from “Sports Inner City Online” to Jamal Crawford and the other NBA players from my town, Seattle, Washington for being leaders and role models for our youth. We hope to conduct a interview with J.C. in the near future. G.C.

P.S. Former NFL QB the late Steve McNair taped a suicide prevention PSA and I be doggone he then gets shot by this so called female four times before she kills herself. This is UNREAL!!
I will not even put the name of this so called female on my site. She was the lowest of human beings to what she did to McNair.
But sorry to say, I blame McNair too. Dude was a STILL married man with four kids. And his wife is a beautiful lady. I know she and her kids are suffering big time. As is all of McNair’s many fans who watched him play in the NFL for 13 years.
This killing shines the light again on a lot of pro athlete lifestyles. Money, big cars, jewelry, plenty of females and sex and late night clubbing all over the place.
Word is McNair had this female and other ladies. This is a problem folks. A big problem, We all thought the world of Steve McNair. He was a great guy who did a lot for the community. But in the end, ladies was his downfall. This is truly sad. My prayers go out to McNair’s family. Gordon Curvey

P.S. Glad to see Mayweather is healed and ready to fight Marquez on the Sept 19th. He may be in for a big surprise in this fight.
I think the time away from the ring my hurt Floyd. He thinks it is nothing but two years is long time. Juan has been fighting and keeping busy.
Floyd has to be very very serious in his training for this fight because this may be his first loss in the ring if he is not careful. This is going to be a real interesting fight and I am looking forward to seeing this fight in September. G.C
