Seattle’s Own Jason Terry Wins 6th Man Award In The NBA

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Full story click here)

P.S Big shout out to Dallas Maverick guard Jason Terry for winning the 6th Man Award this year in the NBA.

I have always wondered if NBA players really like winning this award because in my mind many of the winners really would want to be starting instead of coming of the bench as a sixth man.

Terry grew up right here in Seattle, Washington and grew up playing at Rainier and Rainier Beach Community Centers and in the playgrounds in the Central Area and Rainier Valley of Seattle.

He went to Franklin High School which is about four blocks from the Music and Sports Inner City office/studio.

“The Jet” has a basketball camp for the youth every year for the kids of the inner city of Seattle. He is giving back and has forgot where he came from. Again a big shout out to Jason Terry for winning the 6th Man Award.  Gordon Curvey

Why Does Yao Ming Talk English and Ichiro Does Not?

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

As I watched last few week Houston Rockets center Yao Ming conduct halftime interviews with TNT and ESPN and also watch Ming in post game press events I am thinking to myself. Why does Ming speak English so well and Seattle Mariners star Ichiro does not speak English at all in interviews?

When Yao first came to America he could not speak English at all. Could not talk to ESPN or TNT without a translator.

But now he does not need a translator at all and can hold his own in interviews.

But for some reason, Ichiro continues to talk Japanese in interviews with his translator. He has been for awhile now so I don’t understand why Ichiro will not speak in English like Yao Ming.

Ming even has a commercial with Charles Barkley and Dwayne Wade. Where is Ichiro’s commercial with him speaking English?

I hear a rumor Ichiro talks some English with his teammates. But for sure in interviews, he does not talk English at all.

Truth be told readers, it bothers me. I think Ichiro should learn English and talk English in interviews on radio and TV.

He is getting paid millions of dollars to play baseball here in America by the Seattle Mariners so he should at least take more time and learn English and talk English in public just like Yao Ming does.

Or you can look at it this way. There are PLENTY of Latin American players who try to talk English. At least they try. Why can’t Ichiro do the same?

There was rumors after last year that their was some players on the Mariners who was not to crazy about Ichiro. I wonder why?

You can maybe say it is kind of arrogant of Ichiro to contine to hold press conferences and interviews in Japanese.

Some people say, he is paid to hit baseballs and who cares he if he can’t or will not talk English in public eye or in interviews. But as a sports fan, I think he should.

Again, if Ming talks English, why not Ichiro?

Is Laker Star Andrew Bynum Dating Singer Rihanna?

ARTICLE FROM aceshowbiz.com (Full story click here)

Well if the big fella Andrew Bynum is dating singer Rihanna I feel this way. I think Rihanna needs to chill out from dating and focus on her career.

She is a young lady whose career has hit a road bock with this program with singer Chris Brown. Yes Brown’s career AND Rihanna’s career has hit road blocks.

Both are young superstars and every move they make now is under the spotlight of the press. Brown and Rihanna cannot walk down the street without TMZ or other press after them.

Then you have Bynum who plays for the high profile Los Angeles Lakers. He is 7ft tall. If they are a couple, they can’t do anything.

In my opinion I think Rihanna needs to take a break from dating and focus on going in the studio and producing hits etc.

The case with Brown is going to court soon and she has to be there. If Rihanna is happy dating the big fella Bynum then more power to her, but I think she needs to relax from dating and focus on her singing career for awhile. Gordon Curvey

A Day In The Life Of Los Angeles Lakers Star Kobe Bryant

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Full story click here)

Superstar Kobe Bryant is a work-a-holic when it comes to the game of basketball just like a fella name Micheal Jordan a few years ago.

Not only that he a great dad to his kids and a as I know a good husband to his beautiful wife.

A few years ago Bryant was in the news in a negative way. We all know about the case. But he has put that behind him and most of us have too.

He is getting commercials again and maybe this year he might finally win a NBA title without big Shaq O’Neal. I don’t think he will be happy until he wins a title with Shaq.

He is one of players I love to watch in the NBA. Along with Seattle’s own Brandon Roy, LeBron James and a few other.

The NBA playoffs are here, My time of year!!! Gordon Curvey

Why Was Chris Collingsworth Picked So Quickly To Replace Madden?

ARTICLE ON MADDEN RETIREMENT nbcsports.com (Click here for story)

P.S Broadcaster John Madden has retired from the booth on Sunday Night Football. Man we are going to miss him big time. Why? Because he was great with Al Michaels but because Chris Collingsworth is taking his place.

I think that is a terrible move. Why was this move made so quick by NBA Sports?

My choice is Sterling Sharpe of the NFL Network. Sharpe is witty, intelligent and knows football and has TV experience.

Is this the “ole boy network” again? Friends helping friends to get poistions? Collingsworth has been given bg time chances and Sterling Sharpe has not. I think it is very unfair to pick Chris without at least a little more time to try out others like Sharpe.

To me, Chris Collingsworth has zero personality. Zero!!! I just don’t think the Michaels/Collingsworth team is going to work. This is my opinion. Heck what about neon Dion Sanders? He would have been great also.

But the choice of Collingsworth was quickly made. Don’t understand it all.

Filling Maddens shoes is going to be tough. I think Sterling Sharpe is a MUCH better choice than bland, no personality Chris Collingsworth. Gordon Curvey
